Time-lapse cinematography is making leaps. Everyone has seen traditional time-lapse, where stationary cameras squeeze hours into seconds on screen. Recently, small motorized dollies have allowed for pans, tilts, and camera moves of a few feet.
Now, “hyperlapse” cinematographers have broken free from small camera dollies, and are moving cameras whole city blocks over time, adding dramatic visual energy to time lapse. Contributor Felix Fernandez Gonzalez shoots hyperlapses in his native Valencia, as well as other locations in Spain, and his architectural eye and aggressive camera movement add new excitement to his beautiful establishing shots.
