Twitter captures first picture of Bay Bridge incident

While Twitter Co-founder Biz Stone was commenting on how he was happy not having to cross Bay Bridge today, one of the users of his service got the real scoop. Joe Marshall, who seems to make a habit of taking pictures of his journey over the bridge caught this extraordinary event today. It appears some of the supporting cables have come down on the traffic. The bridge has since been closed.

In a curious full circle the Bay Bridge organisation is giving regular updates on the closure via Twitter as well and reports: Repairs are now under way, still unknown how long repairs will take or when bridge will reopen

Looks like Twitter is still is the first at the scene with an immediacy that can not be matched by other sources and professional photographers.
