Apple to acquire face recognition company?

Mashable reports that Apple may have acquired Swedish face recognition company Polar Rose. Whether they get acquired or not here’s a company that uses face recognition in an interactive way. In the video you’ll see how pointing the camera at a person allows you to see their online identities hovering around them.

The company also allows for tagging of Flickr pictures, it integrates with Facebook which then provides the name of the person that best matches the face on the picture. The software then turns out other portraits that match the face that can be selected or deselected.
