Free London paper to close after 3 years

News international has started a 3o day consultation period with the 60 staff at the London Paper about the proposed closing of the company. The free afternoon paper is distributed among commuters and has been in fierce competition with London lite for the afternoon slot. Another free newspaper , Metro, gets distributed in the mornings.

For the year to 30 June 2009 the paper reported a loss of almost £14m
