As the exclusive representative of the photographs of Michael St Maur Sheil, Mary Evans Picture Library is delighted to be associated with the exhibition of Mike’s photographs of World War One battle fields, previously exhibited in St. James Park and currently on show outside the Guildhall in London in the Fields of Battle, Lands of Peace Somme 100 exhibition.
A century on from the outbreak of hostilities, in a series of stunning photographs, Mike has documented the power of nature and time to effect a transformation from the gruesome past and create landscapes whose very shape preserves the memories of The Great War in vistas of peace and tranquility.
