Shooting Gallery Pictures Document Life Of Dutch Woman

When she was 16, Ria van Dijk went to a shooting gallery that takes an instant picture when you hit the mark and took a shot. From that moment on she came back every year to, literally, shoot a self-portrait. Starting in 1936 this series of portraits that were done almost every year (with a break during WWII) gives a great, original perspective of the woman’s life. Now 88, Ria still comes back to the gallery every year.

Eric Kessels, the founder of Dutch advertising agency Kessels Kramer collected and edited the pictures and published them as part of a series of books:  ‘In Almost every Picture 7: Shooting gallery’
