Alamy Finds Way To Increase Website Speed By Four

Stockphotography company Alamy has found a way to increase the speed of their website considerably.

PRESS  RELEASE

Engineers at Alamy have developed a technique to increase the response time of their search engine by four times.

Alamy’s Head of Development, Kaldip Chohan, said “Our aim has always been to have the fastest search engine for images on the net, we believe this further consolidates our position at the top of the tree.  This latest improvement gives our systems a big boost in their capacity to handle our expanding customer base and product lines.”

In January the online giant hit 22 million images and is projecting a collection of 25 million by the end of the year.  With the improvements Alamy will deliver a larger choice of images without compromising on customer experience.

I don’t know : I tried the same search “car” from the same browser, from the same machine , and the same internet connection and I got a 6 seconds result from Alamy and 3 seconds from Getty Images. They are faster than themselves, maybe but are they faster than anyone else ?

Why doesn’t Fast Media do a real test of who Really has the fastest search engine instead of posting press releases ?
