Getty Images, the world leader in visual communications, have announced a call for entries for the 2016 Getty Images Prestige Grant, which will support two exceptional creative photographers to bring their dream project to life. Open to commercial photographers worldwide, the grant will award two recipients USD $15,000 and $7,500 respectively to actualize passion projects which will evolve their photographic portfolio and further their career.

The Getty Images Prestige Grant champions excellence and creative innovation in commercial photography, encouraging photographers to pursue their passions while providing a platform for experimentation and exploration to develop their personal work.

“The Prestige Grant champions excellence and innovation in commercial photography,” said Andrew Saunders, Senior Vice President, Creative Content at Getty Images. “This is a rare opportunity for photographers to pitch and receive funding for a personal project, providing them the space to innovate and delve deep into an idea they are passionate about.”

Last year’s inaugural launch of this global grant saw Getty Images receive almost 400 entries from over 4 continents, with work submitted from across the breadth of creativity. Top honor was awarded to British photographer Lisa Barnard for her project Sweat of the Sun which looks at how gold, when used as a nanomaterial, is starting to offer new solutions to a range of global health and environmental challenges.  The second grant went to London-based Australian photographer Andy Lo Po for his project Evolution of the Human Body, which explores the body and the influence pornography has had on our perception of our physicality.

The submissions will be judged by a panel of industry experts including:

Madeleine Penny – Director of Photography at Avaunt Magazine and Co-owner and Co-creative Director at Studio MM.

Damien de Blinkk – Photographer

Glen Mcleod – Senior Creative Producer, Grey London

Danielle Pender – Editor of Riposte and Curator, KK Outlet

Applications are open from July 1, 2016 and close on August 1, 2016 at 11.59 GMT. Entrants can apply online by clicking here, where they will be required to submit a biography, brief outline of their project, and mood board.
