Cepic Congress For The Picture Industry Will Take Place In Istanbul

CEPIC has announced the dates and location for the 2010 Congress. It will take place in May in Istanbul.

PRESS RELEASE

CEPIC, the European Trade Body at the Centre of the Picture Industry today confirmed that the 2011 CEPIC Congress will take place in Istanbul, Turkey from the 18th to 21st May 2011.

CEPIC President, Christina Vaughan visited Istanbul this weekend to finalise details with the Turkish Tourist and Commerce Board, following a survey in June 2010, in which the CEPIC Membership voted Istanbul as its city of choice for the 2011 Congress.

“We listened to the wishes of our members and delegates, we then went out and found the best deals and are delighted to come back and confirm to you that we will take our Congress to the only city in the world that covers two Continents and bridges Europe with the Orient in a magical, dynamic and cosmopolitan environment: Istanbul!” she stated today.

Istanbul is a unique city strategically located at the crossroads of East and West, a symbol of diversity, inclusivity, change and optimism with its vastly growing youthful demographic, a secular country that seamlessly integrates Islam with Christianity. It is a city rich in History and Culture with draw dropping architecture on every corner. After an extremely successful Congress in Dublin in 2010, the CEPIC office has received more interest than ever before of delegates wishing to take advantage of the unique and vibrant international networking opportunities provided for at Congress.

Over the next few weeks, the CEPIC Office will be providing further details on the seminar programme for 2011 and the wonderful networking opportunities that it is renowned for. Istanbul is a culturally rich city that has played its role in Mythology, the histories of Mesopotamia, Anatolia, Christianity, Judaism and Islam and is now one of the fastest growing economies in Eurasia with a people hungry to advance and show the world why they were so long the centre of civilisation.

In a seperate message CEPIC president Christina Vaughan goes through some of the reasons for choosing the city.

Congress Project Manager, Karen Sahoy and I travelled to this amazing city this weekend in order to confirm venues and look into accommodation, the social programme and all the important details that ensure that we at CEPIC deliver the most exciting, vibrant Congress yet! We are still buzzing with the excitement of the City!

Istanbul delivers on all levels – it is a unique city strategically located at the crossroads of East and West, a symbol of diversity, inclusivity, change and optimism with its vastly growing youthful demographic, a secular country that seamlessly integrates Islam with both Christianity and Judaism as well as more than a dusting of mysticism! It is a city rich in History and Culture with draw dropping architecture on every corner.

Karen and I wandered through the old and new parts, our mouths parted in awe at the multitude of photogenic sites encompassing both Byzantine and Ottoman Art and Architecture. We marvelled at the fresh pomegranates, melon, pistachio and figs offered on each street corner that tempted both our taste buds and stimulated our visual minds; we drank rich Turkish coffee, ate wonderful kebabs, aubergines, vine leaves and fresh broad beans that stimulated our culinary imagination and never stopped marvelling at the amazing warmth, generosity and hospitality of the Turkish people.

  • I do enjoy Cepic press releases….

    ‘draw dropping’?
    ‘our mouths parted in awe’?

Perhaps best to stick to pictures.
