Celebrated internationally, Valentine’s Day is recognized as an opportunity to tell the ones closest to you much they mean to you.

The history of Valentine’s Day goes back to the 3rd century AD, where Valentine, an Italian bishop, performed weddings for couples that did not have permission to get married.

Valentine would give flowers to the couple, beginning the long tradition of lovers exchanging gifts – often flowers.

For this terrible crime, Valentine was beheaded on February 14th, 269 AD.

But he has had a sweet revenge, as his devotion to love has continued inspire romantics throughout the ensuing centuries.
