Interactive advertising on the iPad (…and other tablets)

In response to our overview of magazine applications on the upcoming Apple iPad (5 days to shipping) and other devices, New York-based Built by the factory sent us a tweet about something they’ve been working on. It’s good to see how companies are thinking about, and developing innovative ways to advertise. In this example by the interactive design and production studio, the company uses theoretical examples that push beyond traditional, one directional advertising messages. Instead the team proposes integration with video, interactivity and addition of social media. All of this would take place within the magazine so the experience is fluid and readers don’t get pushed out to other media outlets.

This is the first example we’ve seen that pushes the advertising boundaries for the new devices. If you find others please let us know and we’ll post them here.
