Compose your own tune with YouTube clips

We were impressed with the way Kutiman used unrelated YouTube music video’s to create new and original music.  This idea takes the concept and stretches it a bit further. The project, conceived by Darren Solomon, let’s you take various pieces of YouTube music and mix it up to create a unique piece of music.

You can try it out here, and others have already created some variations on the idea. Solomon played some of the instruments himself and sourced the rest by putting out an open call for submissions: ‘Sing or play an instrument, in Bb major. Simple, floating textures work best, with no tempo or groove. Leave lots of silence between phrases.’ He then mixed it all up and selected the ones that had the best match.
