New Director of Business Development appointed at epa

Frankfurt am Main, March 17, 2021

The President & CEO of the European Pressphoto Agency (epa), Julia R. Arévalo, has appointed today Mr. Sebastian van Beek as the Director of Business Development of the international news photography and videography agency.

Van Beek (60) will take over on May 1, 2021 and help structure the new Business Development department in epa. Based in The Hague, the seat of the Company, Van Beek will bring to epa over 30 years of experience in the picture and media industry and help reshape the business in line with Arévalo’s
strategy and vision.

Van Beek started his career in the 80’s as the Managing Director and Co-owner of Benelux Press/Fotostock, later to become the Director of Photography of epa’s shareholder Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau (ANP), a position he held from 2002 to 2008. He owned Hillcreek Pictures from 2005 to 2012 and held the position of CEO of Hollandse Hoogte, one of the leading photo agencies in the Netherlands, from 2013 until he sold the company and
returned to ANP as the Director of Photography in 2018.

“Bas has known epa for many years and perfectly understands the synergies among its shareholders and the unique cooperation of the company with leading press photo agencies in Europe and image distribution partners across the world”, said Arévalo.

Together with Van Beek, the epa Business Development department will be joined by Manager Mr. Benjamin Légier who is based in Paris. Most recently, Legier was the epa Bureau Chief of France and Luxembourg and Head of the Arts, Culture and Entertainment department. Before joining epa in 2009, he worked as the Entertainment Producer and Editor in Corbis and was Chief Editor of the TV show ‘Le Set”.
