New York Times streams entire music album with article

The New York Times  has been experimenting with cross-media on their website. In an innovative move it is streaming music of an indie rock band, the National, with an article the paper is running.

“This type of cross-promotion is rare in mainstream publishing and was a first for the Times. The music from the band's new CD “High Violet” won’t be released for sale until May 11, but listeners can hear all 11 songs on the newspaper's Web site, although they cannot be downloaded. On its own Web site, the National posted a link to the Times placement. And the band, understandably, was thrilled at this high-level and international publicity.
