PACA Conference Information

PACA has released details for the 2011 conference taking place in New York.

PRESS RELEASE

The countdown to the 2011 PACA’s (Picture Archive Council of America’s) annual meeting is underway. Exciting things are happening for the 16th International Conference, which will take place at the New York Marriott East Side in the heart of the Big Apple from October 21-23, 2011.

With the digital and creative landscape evolving at the speed of a shutter it is critical to collaborate on solutions that impact the entire image community. This year’s program was built in conjunction with partner associations American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and American Society of Picture Professionals (ASPP) to bring attendees a selection of sessions from outside the usual stock imagery view point. Attendees can expect presentations and conversations that deliver a more broad range of topics which encompass the entire creatuve industry.

“PACA has consistently built year-over -year the most relevant programming and event for B2B media licensing; our 2011 conference will be no exception, as we’ll have speakers from the technology world on content piracy, licensing and usage trends,” said Robert Hensen, PACA President. “We’ve also set out to include attendees from the buyer and photographer communities, to better initiate dialog and mutual interests.”

Insights from visionary software company Linden Labs on issues such as piracy will generate discussion about legal issues facing the photography industry. There will also be three sessions in partnership with Lee Torrens of Microstock Diaries. These highly-anticipated conversations will focus on:

  • Buyer Profiling – How to analyze for improved production and market more effectively to clients.
  • Social Media and ROI – Beyond branding, link building and traffic generating. How social media can generate actual revenue and return on investment; the tools and creative techniques in use in the market today.
  • Ingestion 2.0 – How stock agencies can attract and retain contributors in the current market: what we can learn from the techniques of crowd sourced agencies.

Take advantage networking opportunities with publishers, buyers, producers, and partners before, during, and after the Conference. You can also plan attendance around the Visual Connections Expo, which takes place in New York City one day prior to the PACA conference kickoff. And in your downtime, dine out at some of New York’s acclaimed restaurants, catch a Broadway play, or see the sights.

The New York Marriott East Side is conveniently located near many NYC treasure such as Times Square, the Theater District, the Empire State Building, MOMA, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Fifth Avenue shopping.
