Picasa introduces facial recognition

Google is adding facial recognition technology to it’s 3.5 release of Picasa. Earlier rolled out in Picasa web album this allows users to add name tags to photos. This allows users to organise photos by the people in them. The technology identifies similar faces and puts these into an “unnamed people” album. From here users cn add names. Once images are tagged users can do things like find one with the same two people in them, make a face collage or shre the albums with friends

In this release Google maps has also been integrated. Users can Geotag images on a map and view locations of previously tagged images.
