Deadline for comments on Google books settlement passes
It has been quiet around the Google Books copyright settlement. In November Photo associations were denied the right to intervene and in the same month Google was forced to adapt the settlement. The deadline for new comments on the settlement passed at the end of last week. During this relative silence around new developments and changes it appears that not much has changed. Associations may be faced with a revised deal that does not address their initial concerns.
“After some modifications, it was resubmitted to the court; the deadline for comments on the new version passed yesterday, and many of the same parties submitted new briefs. But anyone who read the initial round may feel like they’re experiencing déjà vu when reading the new batch. For most of the settlement’s critics, very little has changed, and their initial complaints remain.” via The sequel stinks: critics trash new Google Books settlement.
