Travel the Trans Siberian Railway, virtually

Google has teamed up with the Russian Railways on a project that lets  everyone experience the epic journey of the Trans Siberian Railway across two continents, 12 regions and 87 cities, from their home.

The project combines 30 hours of film (the complete daytime journey) and combines this with Google maps. You can simply choose which part of the journey you want to experience and the footage follows. Here’s another example of pictures and footage being shot in new and innovative ways giving coverage that would previously have been seen only by those travelling or through specialist photography. The video is here but it’s best to check out the full experience here.
