You Never Know When Succes Hits You

The internet meme has seen rapid growth and has had an impact on many. So much so that numerous people have found fame (and fortune) by accidentally or deliberately appearing in a meme. At the last Mashable awards, an annual contest highlighting the very best the web has to offer, the category ‘Best internet meme’ was introduced. The award was one by the accidental star Antoine Dodson who featured in the Bed Intruder song, a video that has been seen by 30 million people. In the video his response to a failed burglary and rape attempt was ‘autotuned‘ and made into a song. Dodson accepted the award and even though he didn’t create the song in the first place gave a preview of an album he is creating.

Goes to show that success can come from unexpected places.
