Commenting on their win, the ecstatic team from the UK said: “We are absolutely speechless. Regardless of being awarded a prize, getting the opportunity to compete has just been fantastic, so to walk away with Silver is absolutely amazing. We’ve really enjoyed the whole experience and wouldn’t have wanted to work with anyone else but each other.”

This year’s brief, disclosed to competitors on 17 June, and was set by The Big Issue, a business solution to a social problem through a weekly magazine that helps fight homelessness. The brief, given to the 28 competing teams, required competitors to come up with a media strategy which would give vendors a platform to tell their own story and in turn, help increase circulation of the magazine in the United Kingdom.

Congratulating the UK team on their win, Juror Katrina Henry said: “Their work was built on a great idea and a very tight concept, and the focus on the importance of journalism, as well as investing in small businesses were real points of difference.”

The 28 teams, all under 28 years of age, had just 24 hours to interpret the brief and develop a media campaign, using content sourced from Getty Images’ range of creative, editorial and archival collections.

The Young Lions Competition is being sponsored by Getty Images for the 15 th consecutive year, reaffirming its commitment to promoting the best use of content in advertising.
