Young Photographers Alliance awards scholarships

 The Young Photographers Alliance (YPA) has announced the recipients of their 2010 scholarships. They be presented on October the 12th in New York. The list of winners is below as well as a video of last years awards ceremony.

Young Photographers Alliance (YPA), a 501(c)3 educational foundation dedicated to developing the talent of young photographers, has awarded six scholarship awards to talented young photographers from across the US. This year scholarships have been generously funded by ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers), APA (Advertising Photographers of America), Alamy (stock photo agency), Jerry Tavin (YPA Founder), and Photolibrary (stock photo and footage agency):

  • Alex Sanchez, Freshman, Ringling College of Art and Design (ASMP Award)
  • Stacy Kranitz, Graduate student, Louisiana State University (ASMP Award)
  • Long Tran, Sophomore, Wood Tobe-Coburn College (APA Award)
  • Haley Flores, Sophomore, Wartburg College (Alamy Award)
  • Yasmin Alishav, Junior, Art Center College of Design (Jerry Tavin Award)
  • Clarence Baillo, Freshman, Art Institute – Pittsburgh (Photolibrary Honorable Mention)

 

Awards will be presented at the YPA Annual Awards Ceremony and Benefit Auction in New York City on October 12th, 7-10pm, by some of the country’s finest photographers, including Eric Meola and Doug Menuez. The benefit auction will include highly collectable signed prints, generously donated by well-known photographers. Also on show will be the work of this year’s mentees, who are currently creating photo essays on the theme of “Answering Adversity.”

The event is open to all and is a unique opportunity to enjoy, and possibly acquire, some stunning photography, while celebrating and supporting young talent. Tickets may be purchased online and cost $50 (or $75 at the door). See
