Should I Turn Down Editorial Photo Work with Poor Day Rates?

Editorial rates are notoriously low and many publications haven’t increased the payment to photographers in decades. John Harrington, author of More Best Business Practices for Photographers, shared some tips he uses to increase his assignment fees. Just don’t call it a “day rate” because John believes that is misleads the client into thinking that they are paying you on an hourly basis rather than on your work product.
