Satirical story reprinted as fact

In a world of Fast Media sometimes things go to fast. A Bangladeshi newspaper has printed an article titled: “Conspiracy theorist convinces Armstrong moon landing was faked”. It then quoted an original article from the Onion, a satirical US newspaper of the 31st of August 2009. This article describes the moonlanding as an elaborate hoax and features (fake) quotes of Neil Armstrong describing how the moonlandings were faked.

“Apollo 11 mission commander and famed astronaut Neil Armstrong shocked reporters at a press conference Monday, announcing he had been convinced that his historic first step on the moon was part of an elaborate hoax orchestrated by the United States government.”

The Bangladeshi newspaper has since apologised for printing the article without checking its source and validating its content.
